What is gardiner castle?

Gardiner Castle, also known as the Gardiner-Tyler House, is a historic mansion located in East Hampton, New York. The castle was built in the early 17th century (around 1639) by Lion Gardiner, an early English settler who was the founder of the town of Gardiner's Island. Gardiner Castle is a prominent feature of the East Hampton landscape, and is one of the oldest surviving homes in the country, as well as being a National Historic Landmark. The castle was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.
